There are new pharmacological and non-pharmacological options to reduce the occurrence of this genetically determined, often exacerbated by stress, condition so that a high-performance and fulfilling life can be restored.

Headache: Migraine

Do you know that?

You wake up and the first thing you feel is a headache… If it’s very bad, you have to give up. If it gets really bad, it sometimes takes a moment for it to feel like the brain has finally joined in. You want nothing more than to crawl back into bed. Even sounds and light, sometimes even smells, can intensify the pain. Yet if you stand up and go to work, a throbbing, dull or stabbing headache is your constant companion: a torment that prevents you from listening, speaking, or concentrating… In short: with your migraine, you experience a pain that unfortunately too many people know all too well. It is one of the most common forms of headaches. It is estimated that there are 8-10 million sufferers in Germany. The highest incidence of migraine occurs between the ages of 20 and 50. This therefore affects precisely that life stage in which most of us are under pressure, in which we want to build our work and family lives and thus be ready and efficient, and of course we have to be. Women who usually manage to balance work and family life are affected up to three times more often than men. Perhaps it is precisely because of the frequency of this condition or because it almost exclusively takes place in secret – at home, in darkened rooms and preferably in silence – that the environment of a migraine patient does not always bring understanding of the disease-related disruption to the personal quality of life. And once the attack has subsided, one no longer sees the affected person at all – another reason for often misunderstood or annoyed reactions to recurring work incapacitations and/or failures in family life. But: In recent years, a lot has been done around the topic of headaches and specifically migraine! New pharmacological and non-pharmacological options exist to reduce the occurrence of this genetically determined, often exacerbated by stress, condition so that a high-performance and fulfilling life can be made possible again. Under special conditions, the new antibodies, which are also referred to in the press as migraine vaccines, can also represent a beneficial expansion of the therapeutic spectrum. So if you have already tried and tried everything – it is worth coming back to specialists, here with us, Frau Gece and Mr Fuchs. Let’s talk!
