A common cause of recurring back pain is wear and tear in the area of the small vertebrae. They are located on the back of the spine and are also referred to as facet joints. Hence the term facet syndrome.<\/p>

Since each segment of the spine has two facet joints and the extent of the changes that can be seen on the X-ray often does not correspond to the area of pain, individual diagnosis is crucial.<\/p>

Imaging findings are not sufficient for diagnosis. Anatomical changes visible on an MRI or CT scan do not necessarily have to be accompanied by symptoms. Targeted facet joint blockages provide clarity and help prevent ineffective therapies or unnecessary surgeries.<\/p>

Based on the initial consultation, the physical examination, and the results of imaging, possible pain-inducing structures are identified and anesthetized individually under X-ray control. If pain reduction is achieved, the safe identification of a pain generator has been successful. At the end of the diagnostic process, a personalized pain map is created in the Munich pain clinic, which precisely indicates the need for action. It forms the basis of a treatment plan tailored to each patient individually.<\/p>
